These are concept sketches for the canned Nen Jan Ken Pon game project. These includes player characters as well as weapon concepts and visual effects concepts.
I went with a stylized and cartoony design for characters, based on traditional japanese paintings.
For weapons, I started with multiple ideas for all of them except the fan. In the end, the Hammer became the Rock weapon, and while not portrayed here the Scissors became a blade.
Visual effects were researched through, with weapons being visualized outside of attacks as a japanese sigil floating close to the player.
